Great to find you on DA! Where are you in Scotland? My grandfather was from Dumfries, and my brother and I used to play in a bagpipe band (he played the pipes, I played the tenor drum).

And I dig your Egypt stuff! Another hidden connection: In college, I studied Middle Egyptian from Kelly Simpson. Of course, it was way too many years ago, I don't remember much... all I can remember is how to write one of the five names of Tutankhamun, the words for "eternity" and "contentment," and how to say "consume excrement and perish," as the dictionary would so gracefully express it.
